Redcar Bears eye a Scottish double when they host Edinburgh Monarchs in the SGB Championship on Thursday (tapes-up 7.30pm).

The Teeside club came from eight points down to beat Glasgow Tigers 47-42 last Thursday.

Jason Garrity and ex-Berwick and Glasgow racer Ben Barker helped secure the valuable home victory.

Ty Proctor guests for Monarchs in place of crocked Edinburgh skipper Sam Masters and Bears are at full-strength with Charles Wright and Danny Ayres returning for Bears after missing the Glasgow win.

Jitendra Duffill, Bears manager, reflecting on the win over Glasgow, said: “What a night that was. I don’t think I stopped smiling for two days.

“We were so determined to beat Glasgow and that victory meant a lot and will live long in the memory.”

Bears are fifth in the table with 49 points from 28 league fixtures. Edinburgh, are fourth with 54 points from 27 starts.

Duffill said: “This is another huge one for us. There is still an outside chance that we can snatch that last play-off spot and this is an opportunity for us to gain ground.

“I want to see the same determination and aggression that our boys showed against Glasgow.”
