Can you help find the lost panda?

Davina Verling and her family are on holiday from the New Forest. They passed through Edinburgh last week when her young son Rupert lost his beloved toy. In fact it was Davina’s own when she was young, so this is a much-loved and much-missed member of the family.  Have you seen him?

If you have seen panda then please email us editor@theedinburghreporter.co.uk

Davina explained to us what happened : “We lost panda last Thursday 3 August 2017 at around 11:45 between the Premier Inn on Princes Street through Princes St Gardens to the NCP car park on Castle Terrace.

“We drove for 6 hours round trip back to Edinburgh to find him with no luck.

“We are visiting from the New Forest on holiday you see.

“Panda was mine as a child and my son Rupert sleeps with him every night. We are desperate to find him.”

  1. Just read your article about Rupert’s missing panda and I have forwarded a ‘missing panda search alert’ to the whole NCP team who will keep a look out for him on their patrols. The local NCP guys were very sad to hear the news, and we do appreciate it is a bear that has been in the family for years, however if they don’t find him they have suggested we buy Rupert a new panda (with a nice kilt!) from Edinburgh Zoo shop and say it is Panda’s long lost Scottish cousin who would like to come to stay. Size looks pretty similar to the panda in the photos you printed. In the meantime, rest assured NCP is looking for panda.

  2. Thank you so much to the edingburgh reporter for your help in the search for panda, it is so appreciated. Michelle (NCP) you were the first person I spoke to when we realised Panda wasn’t with us. As my voice wobbled on the phone you were so lovely and understanding and we are so grateful for all your help. Your comment above is heart warming- thank you so much xx
