Former Hearts striker Kevin Twaddle reckons many of the club’s supporters have already formed an opinion on Head Coach Ian Cathro.

Twaddle, who was a member of Craig Levein’s Hearts squad which finished third in the SPL at the end of season 2002/03 and qualified for the UEFA Cup, wasn’t impressed by his former club in the second half of last season.

Rookie boss, Cathro inherited an in-form Hearts side in December but has only won 7 of his 27 competitive games in charge and finds himself under pressure to perform this season.

“Most Hearts fans, I honestly think have made their minds up about Ian Cathro unfortunately. For me, unless things improve dramatically there’s only one outcome.” said the 45-year-old.

“The last part of the season wasn’t great for any Hearts fan and they’ll have to start the season really well or the negativity surrounding Ian will raise its ugly head again.

“Players like Scott Allan signing for Dundee ahead of Hearts would be worrying for me as a fan as it kind of shows you where Hearts are at the moment.

“A lot of people who wanted rid of Robbie Neilson will look now and see what a fantastic job he did there.”

Twaddle made just ten appearances during his brief spell at Tynecastle and didn’t managed to find the net.

Hearts entertain Ladbrokes League One side East Fife in the Betfred Cup on Saturday afternoon, kick off 3.00 pm.
