Ricky Wells admitted that it has taken him time to adjust to the SGP Premiership but he was a key rider as Rye House Rockets shot down under-strength Leicester Lions were 54-36.

The victory means Rye House have claimed four straight home wins in the league and Wells, who also rides for Edinburgh Monarchs in the SGB Championship, claimed four race wins on his way to a 12-point haul.

The Lions, however, went into the meeting without two of their regular septet.

Wells, who only recently signed for the Hoddesdon-based club, said: “Last week (against Poole and Wolves) was a bit of a teething period. It was a bit about set-ups and a bit of myself.

“I had a good week off and bounced back on Monday.”

He admitted: “I always liked this place (Hoddesdon) when I came here in the Premier League.
“I was really happy today. I was off the worst gate in Heat 14 and got a last for some reason but, overall, I felt it was a really good performance.”
