Elite League: Edinburgh Capitals 3, Nottingham Panthers 4

EDINBURGH Capitals were edged 4-3 at Murrayfield by Nottingham Panthers in the second of their back-to-back weekend games.

Capitals, who were already out of play-off contention after Saturday’s 3-2 reverse, went behind after Jeff Dimmen scored in 11 minutes.

Four minutes later Mason Wilgosh levelled with Jaro Hertl and Ian Schultz assisting, but Stephen Schultz fired the visitors ahead ten minutes later.

Again, Capitals hit back. Pavel Vorobyev was set up by Sean Beattie and Matt Tipoff for the home side’s second. Time: 28min 33sec.

But Panthers claimed two goals in the third to clinch the points, Alex Nikiforuk netting after 48 minutes and Eric Lindhagen four minutes after that.

Michael D’Orazio claimed a late consolation but Capitals could not find a goal to level.
