The Queen’s Hall has announced today that the board has appointed an interim Chief Executive, Karen Wood.
Karen joins the Clerk Street team following the recent retirement of Adrian Hall, the much respected former CEO.
Experience for the role is something Karen has in no small measure. She was involved in the EICC since its first construction in 1993 and ran it successfully for 20 years. She then organised the Royal opening in 2015 with the Princess Royal.
As Head of Events Karen oversaw the delivery of more than 3,000 events and 1 million delegates from around the globe. For two years she was also Head of Sales and Marketing.
Nigel Griffiths, Chair of The Queen’s Hall Board, said: “We are pleased that Karen brings a wealth of experience to this interim role in what is an extremely important year for The Queen’s Hall.”
“We will be helping the International Festival celebrate its 70thAnniversary, hosting c18 sell-out morning concerts, as well as over 200 other rock, jazz and blues. trad, folk and classical events at the Hall in the course of the year.”
“Among the highlights, we are hosting the Final Concert of the Edinburgh Competition Festival which selects the best solo singers and instrumentalists from 1,000 entries, on Sunday 12th March.”
“In March we host 5 concerts organised by the City of Edinburgh’s school music team that showcases the Council’s schools’ top jazz and blues, classical, traditional, rock and folk young musicians.”
