The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has just launched its Earth Hour Heroes competition. This is a nationwide search to find those unsung heroes who are making a real difference to our planet.
You are encouraged to nominate themselves or others for the Earth Hour Heroes competition. The initiative is searching for individuals who deserve recognition for going the extra mile to help the environment and inspire others – whether at home, in the community or in the workplace.
Earth Hour is the largest global celebration of our brilliant planet; millions of people around the world switch off their lights for one hour to show their support for action on climate change. This year is its tenth anniversary, and it takes place at 8.30pm on Saturday 25th March 2017.
There are three categories in the competiton: Community Hero, Lifestyle Hero and Workplace Hero. Competition winners will be awarded £1,000 each and will be presented with their award at an exclusive ceremony at the Palace of Westminster. The competition is open until 16 December.
