Hibernian Ladies goalkeeper Jenna Fife is looking forward to playing Bayern Munich in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday 5 October at Easter Road Stadium.

Bayern Munich’s team includes World Cup winning players, such as Melanie Behringer and Simone Laudehr, Brazilian footballing icon Marta and much-lauded Scotland internationalist Lisa Evans

The 20-year-old however insists that her side’s full focus is on their match against Forfar Farmington in the Scottish Women’s Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Jenna told Hibernian Media: “We’re obviously focussing on Bayern quite a lot, but we’ve got Forfar to play and we played Stirling last week. We’ve got to focus on that as much as we can and we can’t let it slip.

“We’re still in contention for the league title, so we’ve got to concentrate on every game coming up and not just the Bayern Munich game.

“We know that we can’t drop anymore points if we want to be in contention for the league. We still need other teams to take points off Glasgow City and we’ve still got to play them.

“You never know what can happen, we need to concentrate as much as we can and we can possibly win the league – but we need to keep going and try our best.”

“Bayern Munich are unbelievable and some of the players they’ve got are insane, they’re full-time and a lot of them have won World Cup medals with Germany and Lisa Evans is an unbelievable player. We’re expecting a hard competition.

“It’s an amazing opportunity us and the whole team, especially the younger players – it’s probably going to be the best experience I’ve had so far in my footballing career.

“You just need to take that on board and go out and show what you can do in these kinds of games – I’m really looking forward to it.

“I know I’m going to be busier in that game because they will be one of the best teams we have ever played and it’s my first time in the Champions League for me also.

“It’s definitely going to be a harder game than I usually expect. I’m just going to try my best, play as well as I can and hopefully have a good game.

“Easter Road is an amazing venue to play at, we’ve only played here a few times before, but it’s a great pitch and hopefully for the Bayern game we can get a lot of people in to watch and make it quite a good atmosphere as well.

“The more people that come along to the game it will create a great atmosphere at the game. It would be amazing and push us even further.”
