Leading firm of lawyers Morton Fraser has appointed Dr Julie Nixon as a Senior Solicitor in its corporate team.

Morton Fraser becomes the only law firm in Scotland with two Intellectual Property lawyers who have PhDs. Dr Julie Nixon joins Dr Peter Galloway as the second IP specialist in the firm.

Dr Julie Nixon and Dr Peter Galloway both have scientific backgrounds. Dr Nixon is a former life scientist and holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Edinburgh. She was a post-doctoral research assistant at Harvard University followed by a traineeship at MBM Commercial, Edinburgh. Dr Galloway has a PhD in Physics from Oxford University and worked as a research scientist before switching to law.

The team is also strengthened by the recent employment of Callum Murray as a Senior Associate. Callum has over ten years’ experience advising clients on a full spectrum of corporate and commercial matters. As well as his corporate work, Callum advises on IP and commercial contracts.

The firm Morton Fraser has offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, employing over 270 people. Morton Fraser clients include BAA (now Heathrow Airport Holdings), Diageo, Royal Mail Group, The Ministry of Defence, Transport Scotland, Tesco, Rockspring and Hunter Real Estate.
