Collector is a unique exhibiton which celebrates the joy of things and explores the curious and touching relationships people have with the objects they own.
At Whitespace Gallery 76 East Crosscauseway until Thursday 13 October 2016, Collector features 20 diverse personal collections of local residents in North Edinburgh, from vintage make-up compacts to world bank notes, and air fix models to John Wayne memorabilia…and much more.
The Exhibiton evolved from an NHS and Creative Scotland funded artist residency based in Muirhouse and has created a forum for people across cultures and generations to share their stories and explore the significance of objects in preserving memories, making meaning and building community.
The Exhibition is a visual treat and a unique glimpse into people’s lives as for a few days only the contents of individuals’ private homes are presented in a public gallery.
