Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in his home.
At around 3:40pm on Sunday, June 5, several men, possibly as many as six, attended a property on William Black Place, which was occupied by a married couple.
The suspects forced there way inside after the male householder answered the door. They then attacked him with at least one of the men using a weapon before running outside and making off in an electric blue coloured three-door Vauxhall Astra VXR and a large black vehicle.
Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to the home and transferred the man to St John’s Hospital in Livingston where he received medical attention for injuries to his head and body before being discharged.
Officers from the Violent Crime and Reduction Unit based in Corstorphine are now pursuing various lines of inquiry in an effort to trace those responsible and are today appealing for the assistance of the public to help identify them.
At this stage of the investigation there are descriptions available for two of the suspects and a composite description for the remaining men.
The first suspect is described as white, between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall, aged in his 30s or 40s, dark hair, balding, with stocky build, clean shaven, has an Edinburgh accent and wore a blue coloured hooded top.
Meanwhile, the second male is said to be around 5ft 5ins tall, of average build, wearing a black buff or similar covering the lower part of his face, a black leather jacket, denim jeans and spoke with an Edinburgh accent.
The remaining suspects are said to be white, in their 30’s, wearing motorbike style clothing with black buffs or similar partially covering their faces and all with Edinburgh accents.
Detective Constable Ross Nicol who is based at Corstorphine police station said: “This was a violent and unprovoked assault that left the victim with painful injuries that are fortunately not believed to be life-threatening.
“I’m satisfied this was an isolated incident and there is not thought to be any threat to other members of the community.
“Our enquiries are at an early stage however we understand the vehicles that the suspects used may have been in the area prior to the incident.
“I want to hear from anyone who saw these vehicles or who saw any suspicious behaviour.
“Those with information can contact police on 101 or alternatively information can be passed anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
