Excitement is mounting ahead of next Tuesday’s William Hill Scottish Cup fifth round replay between Hibs and Hearts at Easter Road.
UEFA regulations mean that the game will not be televised live and yesterday, Hibs’ Ticket Office reported one of the busiest days in recent memory, with around 10,000 tickets sold by close of business.
The winners of the tie will face Scottish Cup holders Inverness Caledonian Thistle at home.
The duo drew 2-2 in a hard fought encounter at Tynecastle with Hibs staging a remarkable comeback soring two goals in the last 10 minutes.
A statement on the club website read: “A big thank you to all Hibernian supporters who have purchased tickets in the first day of sales for the Edinburgh Derby on Tuesday 16 February.
“We appreciate the patience shown by supporters both online and at the Ticket Office – the volume of traffic was significant and the Ticket Office staff are working hard to meet the demand. We are aware of the backlog of e-mails from supporters and will respond to everyone as soon as we can.
“Remember you can buy online 24/7 through the Hibernian eTicketing website. Tickets for the match with Hearts are on sale to those on the Hibernian database, so please make sure you are logged in before atttempting to buy your ticket. The Ticket Office will be open from 10am-5pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, and 10am-3pm on Saturday. “
