The council, Edinburgh World Heritage and West Maitland Street Conservation Programme Committee have all agreed a funding package to improve the shopfronts in West Maitland Street. This is one street which suffered greatly during the tram project and now work is to begin to bring it back to life.

BBC have a political series called Free Speech and for the General Election 2015 they plan some talks involving leaders of various political parties including the Prime Minister and Ed Miliband who will answer questions from the audience.
The programme is looking for those of you within the 16 to 34 year-old bracket to ask the questions.
There are two possible dates for filming in Edinburgh, on 10 and 24 March 2015. Although the location is yet to be confirmed they are seeking applications from those who want to be in the audience.

Today at the Central Library at 2:30pm:
Neil Laird presents an informative insight into the origins of Edinburgh and Leith’s oldest golf societies – the first rules of golf, the first golf competition and the oldest golf clubhouse. Neil is a member of the British Golf Collectors Society and developer of the Scottish Golf History website.
