Police in East Lothian have confirmed that they have arrested and charged a 40 year-old man in connection with a spate of robberies, which have occurred over the last two months in the Musselburgh area.
These incidents started on Saturday October 4 and the last one occurred last night (Thursday, December 4) nearby the Brunton Theatre.
Police officers from the dedicated Operation Formby team arrested the man this morning (Friday, December 5) at an address in the Musselburgh area.
He will be charged in connection with seven incidents in total and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday (December 8).
Inspector Andrew Harborow said: “We would like to thank the public for their high level of engagement and support , which has played a significant part in the arrest of this man. Whilst this man has been caught, we will continue to deploy additional resources to Musselburgh over the coming days .
“I would like to reassure the community that East Lothian remains a safe place, but would also advise people to take care of their belongings and remain vigilant , especially during the festive season.
