From City Breaks to Europe’s Best Beaches – Countless Reasons to Fly from Edinburgh
Edinburgh is Scotland’s busiest airport, and a vast range of international destinations can now be reached from the capital’s air hub. The nine million plus passengers who travel through it every year head off to locations around the UK, all over Europe and even to North America.
Low-cost airlines include Ryanair, EasyJet and Flybe so there are plenty of excellent budget packages going from Edinburgh if you want to book cheaper holidays online. So if you’re thinking of flying out from Edinburgh for your 2014 holiday, here are some of the locations you could enjoy…
European City Breaks
Whatever time of year you travel, a European city break is an excellent way to soak up some culture and history. There are direct flights to Paris, London, Brussels, Athens, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Krakow, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Munich, Prague and Budapest from Edinburgh. It is possible to bag a real bargain when it comes to flight prices as the majority of these city break destinations can be reached with low cost airlines, and take a couple of hours or less.
Somewhere New
Bulgaria is one of Europe’s top up-and-coming destinations with some of the continent’s last truly deserted beaches backed by pristine forests and mountain ranges. Fly from Edinburgh to Burgas to explore the coast and quaint historic towns. Or why not try Malta and its neighbouring island Gozo for an island holiday with a difference? Malta is often described as a living museum with Neolithic temples, grand citadels and well-preserved Roman ruins amongst its myriad of historic attractions.
Beach Holidays
It is possible to fly to a range of classic European beach destinations from Edinburgh including the Canary Islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, the Balearic islands of Ibiza and Mallorca, the Costa Blanca via Alicante and the Costa del Sol via Barcelona. So it’s easy to swap those grey Scottish skies for some winter sun for a while!
Winter Snow and Ski
EasyJet fly from Edinburgh to Reykjavik in Iceland where snowy wilderness, volcanic landscape and the northern lights make for a stunning winter break destination. There are also seasonal flights to Innsbruck with Austrian Airlines and flights to several other popular ski destinations.
From late May 2014 there will also be regular flights to Chicago and Philadelphia adding to the list of long haul destinations that can be reached from Edinburgh. With so many budget options and classic destinations to choose from Edinburgh is fast becoming one of the best airports in the UK.
