Carols are on the cards at St Cuthberts on King’s Stables Road on 15 December at 4:00pm. And it’s to be a very special event. The combined voices will perform Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols in the centenary year of Britten’s birth.

“Written whilst crossing the Atlantic at the height of U-boat activity during World War II, the eight songs that make up this collection are surprisingly serene: the glistening, silvery sounds conjure images of winter tranquillity. Surrounding this jewel in the crown will be other inspiring festive works – some familiar, some lesser-known – of which Richard Rodney Bennett’s Four American Carols will prove a highlight. NYCoS National Girls Choir, under the baton of the inimitable Christopher Bell, will be joined by acclaimed Scottish harpist, Sharron Griffiths for an unforgettable performance of celebratory choral music.”
