Today poppies will hit the streets of Edinburgh with a day of music, entertainment and fundraising to mark Poppyscotland’s first ever Edinburgh Poppy Day.
From 7am to 7pm, the city centre will be filled with up to 100 poppy collectors, including civilians, veterans and members of the Army, RAF, Royal Marines and Cadets, who aim to raise as much money as possible for the 2013 Scottish Poppy Appeal.
Highlights include:
·        The Edinburgh Military Wives Choir performing in St Andrew Square from 9.30-11.30am
·        Piper playing outside the Omni Centre from 11.30am-12.30pm
·        Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland at the plaza on the Mound, from 12 -1pm and 4-5pm
·        Military vehicles on display at Castle Street, 7am-7pm
·        Poppy Motorbike on display at the Wellington Statue, Princes St, 7am-7pm
