“MEANWHILE”
Susan Boyle
Magdalen Chua
“Meanwhile” brings together the work of two artists based in Glasgow. Magdalen Chua’s work deals with the unspoken rifts and deposits in our familial and personal landscapes brought on by the experience of psychological and physical distance. By creating small precise fictions in which to contain and analyse our sense of disorientation, Magdalen’s work points us towards a poetic reimagining of the self and its critical potential. Susan Boyle uses drawing and photography to examine the concept of order and disorder, looking at the ways in which we may seek to regulate the uncertainty and disorder of life through control mechanisms, and the relentless disruptions and disarray that surround us that always prevent ultimate attainment of total control over our lives (and that of others and our environment).
