A new service, launching this week, aims to turn recent arrivals to Edinburgh into locals.
Your New Crew will host exclusive monthly events in some of the city’s best known venues and best-kept secrets. Created to help young professionals and graduates who have recently relocated to quickly settle in to their new lives, the member service will introduce like-minded people to ‘must-see’ places, whilst removing the isolation experienced when moving to a new city.
Launching initially in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Your New Crew is an exclusive membership service founded by young entrepreneur Gemma Pirnie. The new service encourages people away from the isolation of their virtual lives on computers and out into their new cities, replacing online profile building with opportunities for people to create their own experiences.
Commenting on the launch, Your New Crew founder Gemma Pirnie, said:-”Moving to a new city can be a pretty daunting task; everyone is so busy and often it can be difficult to get out and meet new people and visit new places. Having done it myself and watched friends relocating, I know only too well how intimidating it can be. Even if you have hundreds of Facebook friends or thousands of Twitter followers, you may not have somebody to meet for a drink after work.
“Relocating for work can be scary for anyone, but for graduates and young professionals it can be especially difficult without the social support you receive at university through dorms, clubs and societies. Your New Crew will recreate this support for our members, removing the ‘scare’ factor that comes with relocating, by introducing members to their city and each other in a friendly environment.”
In addition to providing a helpful tool for those new to the capital city, Your New Crew is hoping to attract existing residents who are keen to get to know their area better, visit new places and meet new people.
The monthly events will introduce members to a wide range of venues; from well-known culinary institutions, to some of the city’s hidden gems. All events are facilitated by Your New Crew staff members to ensure that there is always someone to help introduce new members.
Your New Crew is celebrating the launch of the new service by hosting a free event at the stunning Brasserie de Luxe in The Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh on Thursday 24 October 2013. The event starts at 6pm with welcome drinks and reception where guests will be invited to join brasserie chefs to learn how to shuck oysters.
Demand for the event is expected to be high, especially as all guests will receive one month’s free membership.
