This week’s photo is a slightly different view of the Dean Village and comes from Carson Ralton. Carson is a Data Analyst, and outside of photography enjoys football, gardening, DIY, spending time with wife Karin, his 5 children and friends.

Football and photography go hand-in-hand for Carson as weekends are spent as the matchday photographer for Spartans FC. This isn’t the first time his work has featured on The Edinburgh Reporter (albeit in different sections!)

”Most of the photographs I took previous to joining the club were football action shots of Spartans FC,” said Carson. ”Since joining the club I have been encouraged to widen my photography horizons and take a variation of photographs from landscape to portraiture. It is extremely enjoyable spending time with like-minded people swapping information and tips and helping each other improve as we progress along our photographic journey.”

The Stockbridge Photography Club is a non-profit photography club that aims to operate in a different way from the traditional photography club mould. They have informal monthly meetings where they discuss their photos over a cup of coffee and learn about the month’s theme – this month they are meeting in LifeCare, Stockbridge.

Outside of this, they arrange photowalks and trips to various locations and landmarks in and around Edinburgh, providing their members with something interesting to photograph, whilst always having someone on hand to answer any questions.

Currently they are preparing for their upcoming exhibition as part of Stockfest, which will be taking place in Rosie McKenzie Art on St Stephen’s Street. Everybody is welcome!

More info about the club, and their upcoming exhibiton, is on their website.
