First Minister will join William McIlvanney on stage at Edinburgh International Book Festival
Organisers of the Edinburgh International Book Festival announced today that the First Minister, Alex Salmond, will join William McIlvanney on stage on Friday 16 August at 3.00pm in an event to discuss McIlvanney’s life and work.
Following McIlvanney’s appearance at the Book Festival in 2011, where he expressed his disappointment that his work was now out of print, Canongate have re-published new editions of Laidlaw, Strange Loyalties and The Papers of Tony Veitch. The First Minister will be in conversation with McIlvanney and will also read a passage from one of his novels.
The Edinburgh International Book Festival will run until Monday 26 August. Tickets and further details of the event and the Book Festival Programme can be found at www.edbookfest.co.uk.
