Gilded Balloon Date: 31 July – 18 August.
Cambridge Touring Theatre brings their musical adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows to the Gilded Balloon.
This lively and funny performance is brought to life for families through singing, dancing and a host of pranks that appeal to both children and adults alike. Toad is boastful, proud and obsessed with motorcars. Poop, poop! Ratty, Mole and Badger try their best to keep him under control. Along the way they learn important lessons about what it is to have friends and to be a friend.
Cambridge Touring Theatre has been touring professionally around the UK since 2000. The actors bring the story to life with audience participation and lose no opportunity to delight and entertain all ages.
Actor and journalist Piers Wehner has written this adaptation of ‘Wind in the Willows’ for Cambridge Touring Theatre. Barry Evans directs and the music is composed by Simon Humphreys.
“With a cast so full of energy, verve, vigour and enthusiasm … the players frolick … utilising a simple set of boxes and turning them into caravans, motorcars and court. The myriad of costumes ensures all the colours of a paint box are brought to the fore … in short, the whole performance is a laughter-felled treat from start to finish.”
The company offers a 30 minute drama workshop before each performance for children aged 5-10. Here children can be introduced to the characters from the story and work on themed drama activities, songs and games.
