Let us introduce you to the first gentoo penguin chick born at Edinburgh Zoo in their Centenary year and the first chick ever born in the new enclosure Penguins Rock!
The chick was only a couple of hours old when the photo was taken on Sunday afternoon. The chick does not have a name yet, born to a new mum, although the dad has parented before.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Zoo said:-“Another chick has now been born since – taking the total up to two. Another third chick is making its way out of the egg as we speak – could hatch fully tonight or tomorrow. There are 44 eggs in total still to hatch.”
