The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Edinburgh proudly present THE YEOMEN OF THE GUARD – by W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan in the King’s Theatre Edinburgh from Tuesday 19 to Saturday 23 March 2013.

The Yeomen of the Guard is a story of high drama and romance.  The most serious of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas, it is set amidst the colourful pageantry of the Tower of London and has a tragic ending, when the strolling jester Jack Point “falls insensible” as he loses his partner Elsie Maynard to his rival.

In this show, W.S. Gilbert is at the very top of his game, adapting his usual patter songs, comedy duets and tongue-twisting dialogue to reflect the darker atmosphere of deception and intrigue within the sombre walls of the Tower of London.  All this mingled with Arthur Sullivan’s most impressive music is guaranteed, say the organisers, to give you an evening of pure theatrical magic.

The Yeomen of the Guard runs from 19-23 March, nightly at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Saturday 23 March at 2.30pm.  Ticket prices range from £21 to £12 in the refurbished King’s Theatre, Edinburgh.

Discounts are available with a reduction of 10% for groups of 8 or over, and for children under the age of 16 all tickets are only £5.
