Join local author, Max Scratchmann, at Portobello Library on 11 December 2012 at 6:30pm as he shares his memories of his 1960s childhood in India when ordinary Scots still worked in the mills along the majestic Hooghly river and lived in lofty mansion houses with fleets of servants.
The evening will be a warm and funny look at the leisured Imperial lifestyle of the East India British, recalling both the good life and the growing political unrest in the Indian subcontinent during the last stolen years of the British Raj, as
featured in Max’s travel memoir, The Last Burrah Sahibs.

Just a quick note to say a BIG thank you to all the people who braved the freezing weather and come out and make this event the success it was.
