Six people have been charged with various alleged drugs offences following a series of raids carried out by Lothian and Borders Police this morning.

Over £820 worth of diazepam, £120 herbal cannabis and cannabis resin, £500 worth of heroin and £250 worth of cocaine were all found at four addresses in the West of Edinburgh. Some will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday and others will appear in court at a later date.

The enforcement action is part of Operation Cipher 2, a multi-agency operation designed to improve quality of life for local residents in the Gorgie, Dalry and Fountainbridge areas of Edinburgh.

It follows on from the successful first Operation Cipher that took place in the Calders area of Edinburgh in August and September this year.

In the coming weeks, Lothian and Borders Police, the City of Edinburgh Council, Dunedin Canmore Housing Association, Edinvar Housing Association, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service and the NHS will all be undertaking various activities with the community.

Details of community events and activities being carried out by the Operation Cipher team will be advertised on the Lothian and Borders Police and The City of Edinburgh Council website in the coming days in advance of the main launch of the campaign next week.
