Erskine-Stewarts-Melville IX v US Universities IX  3 June 2012

Erskine-Stewarts-Melville Ladies HC played a friendly match against a select team of students from a variety of United States Universities. The team is run by a group of friends, families and coaches and is purely a social set-up and gives the girls – and their ‘coaching staff’ a chance – or excuse, perhaps.. – to travel around the World.

The US players were of a variety of skill levels, but were all to a fairly decent standard. However, the ESM team play together on a regular basis and were able to convert the many chances at goal they had to end up 8-1 winners on the day. The event wasn’t really about the win/lose/draw scenario, but was really a vehicle to get young people together from different countries and cultures and to give the US girls a chance to expand their horizons somewhat. From this match they were then going on to play Edinburgh University, before travelling through to Glasgow and Stirling for further matches.
