LUNCH HELD IN SUPPORT OF THE PRINCE’S TRUST SCOTLAND RAISES £16,000
Guests from Scotland’s leading financial services joined The Prince’s Trust Scotland at a fundraising lunch in support of the youth charity, raising over £16,000. Over 150 guests attended the lunch and had the opportunity to hear from guest speakers Lucy Kellaway, the FT’s Associate Editor and Moneyweek’s Editor in Chief, Merryn Somerset Webb.
The event, sponsored by the Martin Currie Charitable Foundation and Liontrust, was held at Edinburgh’s George Hotel and this is the third year the event has run.
The Prince’s Trust Scotland works with young people aged 13-25 who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. Through a comprehensive range of personal development programmes, The Prince’s Trust supports young people into jobs, self-employment, education training and volunteering. Over 80 per cent of the young people The Trust works with move into a positive destination and in 2012/13, The Prince’s Trust Scotland with work with over 7,000 young people.
Heather Gray, Director at The Prince’s Trust Scotland, said:-“The Financial Lunch is an important event within The Prince’s Trust’s fundraising calendar and we are absolutely delighted that people took the time out to attend. In addition to hearing from some fascinating speakers, including one of The Trust’s own Young Ambassadors, guests helped raise vital funds and learned more about the work of The Prince’s Trust Scotland.”
Prince’s Trust’s Young Ambassador, Ciaran McGearty, addressed guests and took the opportunity to share his experiences of being supported by The Trust.
Tim Hall from the Martin Currie Charitable Foundation said:-“The Martin Currie Charitable Foundation has been a long standing supporter of The Prince’s Trust and has been a committed supporter of Fairbridge and The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust, prior to the recent mergers. We are delighted to be involved in events such as this which will help The Trust support even more young people. Planning for next year’s lunch will start shortly, and I look forward to building on this year’s success. ”
