When the Olympic Torch was setting off from Chesser Avenue the crowd at the Castle were being royally entertained by a succession of acts on stage including Emili Sandé.
Then the final relay runner of the day, Lesley Forrest, ran onto the Castle Esplanade with the torch, and Lord Provost Donald Wilson, who said he thought he would be speaking before the cauldron was lit and would therefore be the ‘warm up’ act, welcomed the Olympic Flame to Edinburgh.
