Eventually, train commuters travelling from Edinburgh to Glasgow should be able to use free wifi provided by Scotrail. Citylink Buses already offer this service, although the commute takes just a little longer.
Holyrood Magazine reported that Keith Brown the Transport Minister hoped to announce a trial soon, but The Herald went a stage further by explaining that the Transport Minister had awarded a £250,000 contract to allow wifi trialling on what must be the busiest commuter route in Scotland to begin. It is probably to be a condition of the next rail franchise to be awarded in 2014 that wifi is part of the offering.

Here is something you might otherwise have missed – actually two things – one is that The Guardian have a Scotland blog, and the second is that The Traverse Theatre are showing a documentary film about boxing legend, Edinburgh’s own, Ken Buchanan, on 27 March. These two are connected as it was in The Scotland Blog in The Guardian that we found out about the film…(Unfortunately there is apparently not enough Scottish news for this to be updated every day however.) Here is a taster of the film for you…
