Marco Biagi MSP has today highlighted the expertise and location of Edinburgh as the key reasons why the UK Government must locate the Green Investment Bank in Edinburgh.
Mr Biagi, SNP MSP for Edinburgh Central and member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, said:
“With the skill-sets and expertise available in Edinburgh coupled with Scotland’s massive renewable resources our capital city in Scotland is the outstanding location for the Green Investment Bank.
“Edinburgh has a unique network of financiers, academics and government agencies all at the heart of the green energy revolution that is already bringing in hundreds of millions of pounds of investment as well as thousands of jobs to communities across Scotland.
“The establishment of the Green Investment Bank in the perfect location must be a priority for the UK Government to provide a boost to this growing industry.
“Edinburgh has received backing from industry, academics and civic leaders across Scotland and is the obvious candidate for the bank to attract and retain the staff required who will mobilise and manage the significant levels of funding from global markets that are already coming in.”
