The council meet this morning to discuss trams among other things. We gave you a breakdown of what is up for discussion in our earlier article. The Herald tells us that there has been a £100m error in the figure for stopping the tram project as revealed to the council last month. We will be at the council meeting and will report on that later.

The Guardian Books Blog tells us about another mystery sculpture which appeared yesterday at the Book Festival. These have appeared before now at several locations across the city including the National Storytelling Centre and The Filmhouse. This one seemed again to be directed at Edinburgh based author, Ian Rankin, and had used a copy of James Hogg’s Confessions of a Justified Sinner.

The best joke at The Fringe this year is reported by the BBC to be this one told by Nick Helm:-“I needed a password eight characters long so I picked Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.” the joke was picked by a jury.

Pete Doherty has announced that he will appear on stage in Edinburgh next month at the HMV Picturehouse on September 21.

And HMS Edinburgh is now in the southern hemisphere according to the South Atlantic News Agency MercoPress. The Reporter was lucky enough to be invited on board the ship earlier this summer.
