A Scottish IT company has helped youngsters at a local Nursery school get a head start when it comes to computer skills, after donating and installing a fully working computer system.
The generous donation came after Euro Business Solutions (EBS) received a request from the Parsons Green Nursery school, for a dummy computer and keyboard, so that children could practise using a computer in preparation for their move into primary school classes.
EBS founders Bob Bell and Alex Donaldson went one step further presenting the class of nursery children with a fully working computer, complete with software.
The computer which now takes pride of place in the Nursery is used by children to introduce them to computer basics.
The computer was donated by Euro Business Solutions after a recent system upgrade for one of their clients the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) left them with a number of working computers. The EICC were keen that these should be put to good use if at all possible.
Rather than simply putting them to waste, Bob and Alex decided to donate the computers to various charitable causes including Parsons Green Nursery and SACRO.
Bob Bell said: “It’s fantastic to see the children at the nursery using the computer and we hope that they will be able to get a lot out of it.
“IT and computer skills are now essential for children to learn even from a young age and what better way for them to practise than on a real live computer?
“We had a batch of redundant PCs from the EICC and are hoping to give them all away and are on the search for a few more deserving groups, which we can donate them to. It’s important to give something back to the community in which we work and we are delighted that we have been able to do this at Parsons Green Nursery.”
