The tram update meeting came to an abrupt end when the SNP accepted an addendum by Labour.
The addendum stated: “The council instructs the Chief Executive, Sue Bruce, to seek absolute clarification on the new Scottish Government’s intention in relation to the release of the remainder of the £500m Government Grant.”
It also instructed Bruce to “report on potential compensation arrangements for Princes Street and West End traders given the possible, additional closure of Princes Street and to ensure the next Council report on the Tram project, scheduled for 30th June 20011, is in the public domain a full 7 days prior to the Council Meeting.”
It followed a thirty minute adjournment requested by Councillor Andrew Burns to consider an SNP addendum, as the party called for the Chief Executive to provide detailed costs of cancelling the project completely.
It was agreed that there will be an investigation, the outcome of which is likely to decide the fate of the trams.
A briefing discussing the remediation works last Wednesday saw several key members of the council team apologising for the ongoing disruption.
