Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision in Edinburgh this morning.
A male cyclist was involved in a collision with a truck near to Broughton Primary School, about 7.50am. The 32-year-old cyclist died at the scene.
Broughton Road has been closed to East Claremont Street while investigations are carried out. It is hoped it will reopen around midday. The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is helping with inquiries.
Inspector Steven Boyle said: ‘We are currently working to establish exactly what happened, so would appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward. ‘It would have been busy at the time, with families dropping children off at school and people heading to work, so it’s vital anyone with any information comes forward.’
Anyone with information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
I am so sorry to hear that he died, he was a lovely man, i only talked to him once but my friend that saw the accident happen, who has answered the police questions, is totally wrecked.
