What can you go and see in Edinburgh this Saturday…… Here are our recommendations!

At The Cameo you can start off with Bluebeard at 13.30 or Breathless (the French version directed by Jean Luc Goddard). At 15.40 you can take in Heartbreaker or wait till 16.10 for White Material then Good Hair is on at 21.15 but the best of the bunch has to be Inception directed by Christopher Nolan at 13.40, 16.50 20.00 or 20.45 – so plenty options there! Stars Leonardo DICaprio – and gets an amazing 86% on Rotten Tomatoes….. And The Guardian Film Blog reviews it rather favourably….

Further down Lothian Road you could go to The Odeon to catch up with 3D Shrek Forever After at various times from 13.45 onwards. Again Inception from 13.45 onwards and Predators from 14.30 – and The Twilight Saga The Eclipse in case you have not seen it yet….

Our choice here is Predators with Laurence Fishburne although Rotten Tomatoes only gives it a rather measly 64%. It is a remake of an earlier Arnie epic called funnily enough Predator. The Guardian film blog review is a bit scathing…but we suppose Arnie was a bit busy to come back for the remake…

And then further down the street you come to The Filmhouse. The wonderful Filmhouse which shows all the films you should ever see. On Saturday their films start at 13.00 with Sammy Going South, Wild Grass at 13.30, Le Concert at 15.25, Leaving at 16.00 or Trouble Every Day at the same time and finally The Wind Will Carry Us at 18.00. This time we have some difficulty in choosing…but we really want to see Le Concert (just because it’s a comedy!) and Leaving – with Kirstin Scott Thomas who is in another affair this time with the DIY man who comes to make her office in the house.

Le Concert gets 69% from Rotten Tomatoes and Leaving a wondrous 93%. Of course it has been out since 2009 but all the same…..it is an amazing score and so Leaving it is!

This time The Guardian film blog would seem to suggest an approval of Kirstin Scott Thomas in this film…….we think!

And finally you should also know about the Glyndebourne Festival tickets which are going on sale now at The Cameo – some showings of opera on the big screen on 21st August 2010

What are you going to see? Did you like it? Why not tell us?
