With Bonfire Night approaching in order to commemorate a certain Mr Fawkes and his mischievous gunpowder plot of 1605, it’s time to carry on the Halloween celebrations, stick on your spookiest dressing up outfit and enjoy a night of music, tasty hot foods, writing your name with a sparkler and of course…incredible fireworks.
There are many events in Edinburgh this year to help entertain you.
On 1 November there is a bonfire and fireworks night at Hopetoun House, South Queensferry. The theme on the night will be ‘Spooktacular’ with kids’ prizes for the best dressed plus hot food and fairground rides. The night will be hosted by Ewen Cameron from Heart Scotland and music will be provided by the popular Edinburgh Rock Choir. The gates will open at 4pm with the fireworks starting at 6.30pm. Tickets can be purchased online now at Hubtickets or in person at Hopetoun Farm Shop. Adult tickets are £13 and childrens tickets are £7 each. Under 3s have free entry. More details here.
On 2 November the SLA’s (Scottish Love in Action) ‘Festival of Light’ Fireworks Extravaganzas take place. There will be two shows starting at 4.10pm at George Watsons’ Rugby Ground, Myreside Road, with the second show beginning at 6.40pm. Other attractions include the Delighters Fire Circus Theatre, Rock Choir and the George Watsons’ College Pipe Band (Show1) or the Edinburgh Academy Pipe Band (Show2). Tickets can be purchased from the SLA website.
On 5 November there is the only official fireworks display at Meadowbank Stadium.
The evening’s events will run from 6.30 until 8pm.
