Marink Reedijk believes that individual errors cost Hibs in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to Falkirk at Easter Road.
Jacob Murrell scored twice in the first-half for the visitors following mistakes by Azeem Abdulai on his first start and Thibault Klidje.
Owen Elding pulled one back just before the break.
Hibs had the better of the second half, but couldn’t find an equaliser and ultimately fell to a disappointing defeat in Reedijk’s first home match in charge.
The result saw Falkirk leapfrog Hibs who slumped to the foot of the table.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Reedijk shared his thoughts on the result and performance – admitting that errors at both ends cost us.
He said: “For me, we gave away two goals. I think for the rest of the match we dominated and scored a good goal to get back into the match.
“There were other moments where we could have pulled the trigger to make it 2-2. It didn’t happen, and that’s the story of the match for me.
“In the final third, it’s about decision-making. We had 17 shots or so, and I think if we’re a little bit more clinical, we need to score at least a second goal.
“That’s football, and unfortunately, it’s something we have to cope with. We’re also in a situation where, in these moments, the opposition shoot on goal and score good goals, which isn’t always the case.
“For me, you have matches where you get your moments, and you have to take those opportunities while avoiding giving them to the opposition. This is something we have to learn from and get better at.”
Up next, the Hibees host Celtic before a trip to Paisley to play St Mirren and the League Cup Semi-Final at Hampden in the next fortnight.
“It’s important that we stick together, do things together and keep our heads down,” Reedijk continued.
“We need to limit our mistakes, continue doing what we’re doing and make sure we’re more clinical, because at the end of the day, that’s what’s missing at the moment.”
