Glasgow Tigers team manager, Cami Brown, admitted his side got out of jail against Edinburgh Monarchs who led by six points going into the final two heats at Ashfield.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers snatched a 45-45 draw but former Tigers racer, Dan Thompson, who top scored for the visitors with 11 points and a bonus, admitted: “It was a good point, albeit a little annoying.”
Veteran Chris Harris (pictured by Taylor Lanning) rocketed from the gate in the last race and ex-Berwick Bandits racer, Leon Flint, held off Thompson to secure the draw and the sides meet again at Armadale on Friday (tapes up 7.30).
Earlier, Brown’s men went into the derby without No 1 Kyle Howarth who has opted out of racing, but a 5-1 from Kevin Juhl Pedersen and Freddy Hodder set up a last heat decider.
Brown said: “Fair play to the boys for digging that result out. The way it had gone in the second half of the meeting, it actually feels like a win.
“It wasn’t a great performance. We had too many riders not at the races. We have also been cursed by guest choices covering for Kyle Howarth recently. Jonas Jeppesen was immensely poor from start to finish. He scored three points.
“It’s hard for any team to have a No 1 being so weak, but Chris has been back to his best recently, Leon was excellent and Kevin was outstanding all night. Freddy got going just when we needed it in Heat 14.”
GLASGOW: Chris Harris 14+1, Leon Flint 12, Kevin Juhl Pedersen 8+2, Freddy Hodder 5+2, Jonas Jeppesen 3, Mario Hausl 2, Sam Hagon 1+1.
EDINBURGH: Dan Thompson 11+1, Kye Thomson 11, Mitchell Cluff 8+2, Paco Castagna 6+1, Justin Sedgmen 4+1, Jonatan Grahn 4, Jordy Loftus 1.
