A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of a series of violent and sexual offences in West Lothian and Ayrshire.
Kyle MacDonald appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, 15 June, 2026 where he was given lifelong non-harassment orders for the women he was convicted of abusing between 2015 and 2023.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.
MacDonald’s crimes included rape, sexual assault and assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger to life.
Detective Sergeant Lucy Mason said: “MacDonald carried out a sustained pattern of abuse over many years and will now face the consequences for his reprehensible actions.
“I would like to thank the women for their bravery in coming forward and reporting the abuse that they suffered. They were instrumental in achieving this outcome.
“Police Scotland takes all reports of sexual abuse and violence seriously, no matter how much time has passed.
“I would encourage anyone who has or is experiencing abuse to please report it. You will be listened to and supported, and we will thoroughly investigate to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
