Justin Sedgmen told a packed audience at Edinburgh Monarchs’ sold-out, pre-season launch show that he has been grateful to the Ben Fund in previous seasons when he was injured.
The 34-year-old Aussie is just one of the big names set to go to tapes in the Ben Fund Bonanza at Ashfield Stadium on Saturday, March 28 (6pm) along with new team-mate, Dan Thompson.
Former Grand Prix rider, and Tigers’ No1, Chris Harris is also in the line-up along with Berwick star Peter Kildemand plus current Glasgow riders Kyle Howarth, Leon Flint, Kevin Juhl Pedersen and Sam Hagon.
They are joined by other big names in Tom Brennan, Nick Morris, Ben Barker, Tate Zischke, Danny King, Dan Gilkes and ex-Monarchs rider, Victor Palovaara.
Cammy Brown, Glasgow’s team manager, believes this is going to be an exciting start to the season at Ashfield.
He added: “This is a field with riders who know Ashfield really well and give 100 per cent. Chris Harris, Peter Kildemand, Kyle Howarth, Ben Barker, Danny King, Tom Brennan and Nick Morris are highly-regarded for their never-say-die racing.
“Chris probably starts the meeting as a slight favourite but I wouldn’t want to predict the outcome. It’s just destined to be a breathtaking event. Ashfield always delivers outstanding action.
“We are expecting a big crowd and fans will be eager to see such a battling field of riders give it everything.”
Brown is also interested to see how his Glasgow team members boys get on and he said: “It’s vital track time before our first home team meeting on April 17.
“However, this is all for such a great cause. The Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund is a remarkable charity which has been helping riders for decades.”
