A 22-year-old man has been reported for road traffic offences and his E-Bike seized by police officers from the National Motorcycle Unit in Edinburgh.

Officers saw the bike being ridden on the pavement in Lindsay Road and noted it was being used in a mode that allowed the vehicle to exceed the maximum continuous power of 250 watts and exceed the speed cutoff of 15.5 mph.

As such, the vehicle was seized and the rider is now the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for road traffic offences.

A police spokesperson said: “if your electric bike does not meet the EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) rules then it’s classed as a motorcycle or moped.
