Hibs had to be content with a share of the points after a pulsating 95-minutes at Dens Park this afternoon.
After taking an early lead, the visitors fought back from 2-1 down to lead 3-2 going into added time but a late equaliser denied the visitors all three points.
David Gray made one change to the starting XI that defeated Celtic in Glasgow last weekend with Dane Scarlett replacing Martin Boyle.
Steven Pressley kept faith with his line-up that beat Aberdeen last time out.
Hibs kicked off wearing the home top with dark green shorts. Dundee wore their third kit of broad red and blue stripes.
Hibs took an early lead when Owen Elding theaded home a Nicky Cadden cross after good work from Jamie McGrath.
But the hosts fought back and long ball forward from Luke Graham found Simon Murray and his strike from the edge of the box took a deflection off Rocky Bushiri and flew into the corner of the net.
Murray looked offside in the build up but after a lengthy VAR check the goal stood.
From then Dundee dominated possession Cam Congreve and Tony Yogane causing Hibs problems down both flanks.
At the other end Felix Passlack’s powerful shot from 25-yards was comfortably gathered by Jon McCracken.
Just before the break Warren O’Hora iwas shown a yellow card for a challenge on Tony Yogane then Yan Dhanda went close with a strike from the edge of the area.
Elding had a good chance to add a second shortly after the restart when the ball deflected off a Dundee defender into his path but his first time effort flew high over the bar.
Passlack then went close with a header from a Jack Iredale cross and McGrath’s shot from 15-yards went over the bar as Hibs took control of the game.
At the other end McGrath was booked for a foul in midfield and the resultant free-kick found Murray in space but his effort was blocked and the danger cleared,
In the 65th minute Ante Suto replaced Starling.
Moments later Dundee took the lead against the run of play. A corner was cleared into the path of Drey Wright and his cross was fired into the net from close range by Luje Graham.
Boyle and Kai Andrews replaced Miguel Chaiwa and Iredale as Hibs looked to get back into the game.
With six minutes remaining Hibs equalised when Suto expertly controlled a looping pass from Cadden before beating McCracken.
Then with two minutes remaining McGrath grabbed what looked like the winner .
After picking up the ball in the box, the Irishman shimmied onto his right with a brilliant drop of the shoulder and fired the ball into the net.
But in the fifth minute of added time a Hibs clearance fell to Congreve who curled in a superb strike from the edge of the area to level the score.
