The Scottish Shore Cod Championship will be held on Saturday, January 31, and the organisers say that all are welcome.
Results in this match will count towards the national Penn League and there are prizes for the heaviest cod and the first, second and third biggest bags.
Boundaries are Carnoustie to Ferryden and registration is at the Victoria Park toilets in the car park in Arbroath from 13.15 to 14.00.
Fishing is from 15.00 to 21.00 and the weigh-in is from 21.00 to 22.00.
High tide is at 13.01 and low tide at 19.15 and the entry is £20 for seniors and £5 for juniors.
Allan Saunders, the organiser, said that only cod are to be weighed-in and the rules are one rod and two hooks. The minimum size of fish to be weighed in is 40cm and all anglers will leave registration at the same time.
Meanwhile, Niko Millar (North Berwick) had one fish of 47cm to win Round Ten of the winter league promoted by the East Lothian-based, Bass Rock Shore Angling League.
Tommy Davanna (Prestonpans) was second with one fish for 33cm and the venue was changed from Seacliffe as seas were huge and with safety in mind.
Torness Walkway was the location and there was still a big swell but the club still welcomed a new visitor.
Fishing was tough with a big swell and Niko had to have his big fish handlined up to his peg by another anglers.
Only two anglers handed in cards after the three-hour, midweek match and Round 11 will be at a venue to be decided on February 4, weather permitting.
