Hibs need to keep momentum going says Dan Barlaser

Hibs midfielder Dan Barlaser believes that the players need to keep un the momentum after wrapping up 2025 with a huge three points over Aberdeen in the William Hill Premiership.

The midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Thibault Klidjé and Junior Hoilett fired in the goals to secure a 2-0 win over the Dons at Easter Road.

Hibs took control in the second 45 and sealed victory inside stoppage time through Hoilett, with Barlaser telling Hibs TV of his delight in the team sealing a “deserved” three points.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think we deserved it in the end. I think both teams started quite slow in the first half to be honest. But the Gaffer said at half-time that the game was there for.

“I think we started the second half very well and we got the two goals that we deserved, and the three points. 

“He [David Gray] just basically said the game was there for. I think we were probably the better team in the first half, but it was just kind of finding each other out.

“But in the second half I think we started with a very good intensity and then got the first goal and thankfully got the second goal towards the end and to see the game out.”

Despite the quick turnaround from Saturday’s derby day victory – while also missing a number of players through injury, illness and international duty – Barlaser was pleased to keep the Easter Road faithful happy over the festive period with a third consecutive home win. 

“[Momentum is] massive, you want to keep the fans happy over Christmas especially.

“It took a lot out of us at the weekend, so there were a lot of leggy lads out there, but thankfully we got the three points. 

“You don’t want teams to come here and get points easily and I think, especially at home, we always start games quickly and we’re intense, so we just need to keep that momentum going.”
