Hibs midfielder Josh Mulligan knows that Hibs must “be at their best” to beat Dundee United this afternoon.

David Gray’s side head up to the CalForth Construction Arena to take on Jim Goodwin’s team who ended their seven-game winless streak with a win against Celtic in midweek.

Hibs will seek a return to winning ways following Monday’s frustrating 1-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox.

Speaking to the media, Mulligan stated the team must improve from last time out to take all three points back to the capital this weekend.

“I think we need to do a bit more this game than we did last game. If you want to win games in this league, you need to be at your best. That’s what we’re looking to be tomorrow.

“Firstly, tomorrow, because that will be a hard game. They obviously got a good result during the week.

“The last game [between Hibs and United] was three each. If you remember that, it was a good game as well.

“We need to be at our best. It’s hard to win these games, but I’m looking forward to it.”

The former Dundee midfielder made the move to Leith in the summer and has impressed through his consistent performances.

A Scotland call-up in October, heading into a World Cup year, has been fair reward for his efforts in green and white, and Mulligan revealed his belief that Hibs is the perfect place for him to be.

“I think it has went well. I’ve really enjoyed it here so far. I’ve said a few times as soon as I came in that it was the right place.

“I made the right decision and the performances have been good as well. Obviously, I always think we can do better, but that’s just the way I think.

“I think we can kick on again and hopefully we can get a run of games together and a few wins.

“Obviously, I’ve played a lot of games at Dundee, so I’ve got a bit of experience behind me, but it’s obviously different expectations here. I think I’ve dealt with it quite well.

“I’ve just done what I usually do. I’ve not tried to change anything and it’s been good so far.”
