Hibs head coach David Gray was delighted with the clean sheet and a well-earned point away at Celtic Park yesterday.

There were big individual performances across the pitch and speaking after the match, Gray praised his full team performance, particularly the manner in which they defended.

He said: “I’m delighted to keep a clean sheet first and foremost. I thought today, to a man, right from the front, the desire to keep a clean sheet was there for everyone to see.

“To do is a really difficult task, think it’s been a long, long time since a Hibs team has kept a clean sheet here – Celtic very rarely don’t score at home, so it shows you the level of our defensive display.

“We showed real desire and togetherness today. A lot has been said about the goals we’ve lost recently, especially around the timing. I’ve said to the players that we’re all accountable for that.

“But regardless of timing, the goals we’ve conceded have often come down to lapses in concentration or not showing that determination to step across or do what’s needed.”

The result extended Hibs unbeaten start to the league campaign – and was their first clean sheet at Celtic Park since October 2011.

“To come here, you need to be absolutely on point every single time defensively — and I thought we were”, Gray continued.

“The other side of it is: how can we improve? That’s what it’s all about. Could we carry more of a threat? Yes, I think we didn’t carry as much as we’d like. A lot of that comes down to the pressure Celtic put you under. But it’s certainly something to build on from this position.”

Up next, Hibs travel to Tynecastle for their fourth away game in a row – a fixture Gray insists everyone will relish.

“To come away with a point is really positive – it keeps us undefeated in the league, which is another big positive.”

“It’s certainly the one fixture I always looked forward to when I played – it’s the one you circle on the calendar.

“It’s geared up to be a cracker, they are obviously in good form, we’re undefeated in the league and the lads are quietly confident in what we’re doing. It’s the perfect game to look forward to.”
