Summer signing Thibault Klidjé was delighted after he opened his goalscoring account on his first competitive start yesterday as Hibs progressed to the quarter finals of the Premier Sports Cup!

The 24-year-old opened the scoring in the first half, heading home Martin Boyle’s corner to give Hibs a deserved lead, before Josh Mulligan added a second in the closing stages to seal a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Klidjé told how happy he was to score his first goal.

“It was a very nice moment for me and it was a pleasure for me. I am so happy to score my first goal on my first start!

“I felt very good to see the ball hit the back of the net. It is hard to put into words, I was quite emotional and I am just very happy.”

The Togo international joined the Club earlier this summer, and is eager to kick on after getting off the mark for Hibs.

“The most important thing for me was to follow the plan of the Manager, and to do what I could to help the team.

“It was a very perfect moment for me, it was my first game that I have started and my first goal.

“To hear the supporters sing my name was a big motivation for me. I want to give everything to Hibs, I hope we can keep progressing in this way!”
