Scottish Labour dominated the Edinburgh contests, with Ian Murray retaining Edinburgh South and the three SNP MPs replaced by their Labour counterparts, while Scottish Liberal Democrat Christine Jardine is the only representative of an alternative party.
Edinburgh North and Leith – Tracy Gilbert (Scottish Labour) – 20,805 votes
The SNP’s Deidre Brock lost her seat to the Labour candidate by nearly 7,000 votes.
Edinburgh West – Christine Jardine (Scottish Liberal Democrats) – 26,645 votes
Incumbent Edinburgh West representative Christine Jardine held her seat; becoming Edinburgh’s sole non-Labour MP.
Edinburgh South West – Scott Arthur (Scottish Labour) – 18,663
Scottish Labour candidate Scott Arthur took SNP’s Joanna Cherry’s seat; beating the outgoing MP by almost 6,000 votes.
Edinburgh South – Ian Murray (Scottish Labour) – 24,976
Joining Scottish Labour’s winning streak, Ian Murray held his seat with an enormous majority.
Edinburgh East and Musselburgh – Chris Murray (Scottish Labour) – 18,790
Supplanting Tommy Sheppard of the SNP, Scottish Labour’s Chris Murray became the constituency’s new MP with nearly 4,000 more votes than his predecessor.
