Colin Maclachlan will fly the flag for Edinburgh when a team from Scottish Disability Golf take on English counterparts at the Heron’s Reach course, Blackpool, from Monday – Wednesday next week).

Jim Gales MBE, Scotland Disability Golf captain with the magnificent New Enemies Cup.

Also selected is West Lothian’s Gordon Hyslop while leading the Scots will be blind golfer Jim Gales, MBE, from Springfield, Fife.

Jim will be playing in his 34th international and 14th as Scotland team captain.

At stake will be the inaugural New Enemies Cup, formerly the Auld Enemies Cup which was revamped and renamed late last year.

Jim Gales stressed that disability need be no barrier to playing golf, saying: “I have been extremely lucky over the years to travel with disability golf, to many countries around the world and just last year we went over to California to play, and have been to fantastic places like Japan and Australia, so it’s a bit of a leveller when this year we get to go to Blackpool!

“James Donaldson Timber of Leven is kindly sponsoring the outfits for our team and the funder for the package costs like hotel and food during the competition is the RFT Foundation.  Without this wonderful support we could not manage to arrange the event, nor support our team golfers.”
